This rare and original antique Etonia handkerchief tin box dates to the early 20th century and was produced in Ireland. Crafted from embossed metal, the box features elegant clover leaf borders and a charming dog illustration, symbolizing loyalty, tradition, and fine Irish craftsmanship.
The lid bears the original inscription “Etonia Handkerchiefs – Made in Ireland – Soft as Silk”, making it an excellent example of early European advertising and branding through decorative tinware. Such boxes were traditionally used to store fine silk and cotton handkerchiefs and were commonly found in refined and well-appointed households of the period.
Notably, the interior retains its original soft lining, significantly enhancing its authenticity, rarity, and collector value.
