Historical Provenance
This original pair of brass handles was acquired from the historic Sethia House, Sardarshahar, Rajasthan. As shared by the family, the handles are around 90–100 years old and were installed in one of the family’s heritage properties. The Sethia family has long been associated with Sardarshahar’s rich mercantile and Jain heritage, adding historical significance to these architectural pieces.
Brass is actually an alloy, not a pure metal. It’s a combination of copper and zinc, and the proportions of these metals determine the colour and properties of the brass. Known for its durability and resistance to corrosion, brass has been used for centuries in everything from musical instruments to household items. Using brass utensils can impart a subtle metallic taste to food, enhancing its flavour profile.
