A charming and highly collectible vintage Indian mythological print titled “DASKHAT”, presenting Lord Krishna in an intimate garden setting surrounded by elegantly dressed female figures and attendants. Krishna is depicted kneeling with a written document in his hands, creating a beautiful narrative composition filled with emotion, elegance and old Indian pictorial tradition.
The scene is richly illustrated with flowering trees, roses, traditional costumes, jewellery and a serene waterside landscape in the background. Its delicate facial expressions, period colour palette and finely rendered surroundings give the artwork the distinctive character associated with early Indian calendar and devotional printing.
Of particular collectible importance are the original publishing inscriptions still visible on the sheet. Within the artwork appears “Published by S. K. Mozoomdar”, while the lower printed margin carries the title “DASKHAT”, Bengali text and additional details including “Published by S. N. Singh” and “Agent B. Singh, 8, Simla Street, Calcutta.” These surviving period inscriptions add greatly to the historical character and provenance interest of the piece.

Brass is actually an alloy, not a pure metal. It’s a combination of copper and zinc, and the proportions of these metals determine the colour and properties of the brass. Known for its durability and resistance to corrosion, brass has been used for centuries in everything from musical instruments to household items. Using brass utensils can impart a subtle metallic taste to food, enhancing its flavour profile.
