A beautiful vintage Indian devotional print depicting Goddess Gaj Lakshmi, the auspicious form of Mahalakshmi associated with prosperity, abundance, good fortune and royal grace.

Goddess Lakshmi is shown seated serenely upon a magnificent pink lotus, holding lotus flowers in her upper hands while blessing devotees with her lower hands. Two richly ornamented elephants stand symmetrically on either side, raising a ceremonial vessel above the goddess in the traditional Gaja Lakshmi abhishek composition.

The scene is set against a deep blue night-like background with floral vegetation, water and graceful swans below, creating an elegant and highly decorative devotional composition.

A particularly attractive feature is the raised metallic embellishment applied selectively over Lakshmi’s crown, jewellery, garments, lotus petals and the ornaments of the elephants, adding texture, sparkle and depth to the vintage printed image.

The original printed title remains visible below the artwork:

“Gaj Laxmi”

“गज लक्ष्मी”

Did You Know

Brass is actually an alloy, not a pure metal. It’s a combination of copper and zinc, and the proportions of these metals determine the colour and properties of the brass. Known for its durability and resistance to corrosion, brass has been used for centuries in everything from musical instruments to household items. Using brass utensils can impart a subtle metallic taste to food, enhancing its flavour profile.
