Cavander’s Ltd., London, England | Circa 1900–1925
This authentic Cavander’s Navy Cut Magnum Cigarettes tin is a fine example of early 20th-century British tobacco advertising, produced by Cavander’s Ltd. of London, one of Britain’s oldest and most respected tobacco houses, established in 1775.
Crafted as an original lithographed metal tin, the box features the iconic Navy Cut sailor illustration, bold period typography, and its distinctive olive-gold finish. Marked “Magnums – 500 in 1”, it was designed to store large quantities of cigarettes and reflects the strong naval associations and branding popular in Britain during this era.
The tin retains its original lid, crisp graphics, and untouched interior. Natural age-related patina, surface wear, and minor scratches are present, all consistent with genuine antique use and adding to its authenticity and character. No repainting or restoration has been carried out.

Brass is actually an alloy, not a pure metal. It’s a combination of copper and zinc, and the proportions of these metals determine the colour and properties of the brass. Known for its durability and resistance to corrosion, brass has been used for centuries in everything from musical instruments to household items. Using brass utensils can impart a subtle metallic taste to food, enhancing its flavour profile.
