A rare and visually magnificent vintage “Sheshshayi” devotional oleograph from the historic Ravi Varma Press, Karla-Lonavla, depicting one of the most elaborate representations of Lord Vishnu and the divine Vaishnav pantheon.
At the centre, Lord Vishnu is portrayed with Goddess Lakshmi beneath the protective multi-headed canopy of Sheshnag. From the sacred lotus rising above appears Lord Brahma, while the composition is further enriched by divine attendants and celestial figures including Garuda and musicians associated with the heavenly court.
The extraordinary arrangement of the serpent canopy, lotus, celestial figures, musical instruments, richly ornamented crowns and devotional attendants creates a highly decorative and symbolically important composition. The vivid turquoise, yellow, red and golden tones retain the distinctive character associated with historic Ravi Varma Press religious prints.
Most importantly, the original lower margin remains present and bears the printed title “Sheshshayi”, Registered No. 303, the Bombay distributor details and the imprint “Ravi Varma Press, Karla-Lonavla.”

Presented in genuine vintage condition with natural age-related toning, minor scratches, surface wear and staining. A visible age-related stain/mark is present in the upper central portion of the print, along with minor edge wear. The original vintage frame has noticeable cracks, chips and wear consistent with age. Despite these imperfections, the principal composition remains complete and the colours remain rich and attractive. Please refer carefully to all photographs for exact condition.
