A beautiful vintage Indian devotional print titled “Ganeshji Maharaj”, portraying Lord Ganesha seated majestically above the clouds with his traditional Mushak (mouse) beside him.

The artwork presents Ganesha in an unusual four-armed form, richly crowned and surrounded by a radiant celestial halo. The dark atmospheric clouds surrounding the central glow give the composition a particularly dramatic appearance.

Most importantly, the original lower margin retains its period publishing and printing information, making the piece more interesting for collectors of early Indian calendar and devotional art.

Original printed details visible on the piece:

Collector’s Note

The combination of the Diamond Calendar Mfg. Co. imprint, Punjabi Press printing credit, catalogue No. 121 and original bilingual title gives this example good documentary value beyond its devotional appeal.

The celestial treatment of Ganesha is also less commonly encountered than the familiar seated domestic representations, making it an appealing piece for collectors of Indian calendar art, Hindu iconography and vintage religious prints.

Condition

Presented in genuine vintage condition with age-related paper toning, light marks, minor creasing/wear and natural signs of age. The existing frame also shows age-related wear. These characteristics are consistent with an old collectible print and have not been disguised.

Did You Know

Brass is actually an alloy, not a pure metal. It’s a combination of copper and zinc, and the proportions of these metals determine the colour and properties of the brass. Known for its durability and resistance to corrosion, brass has been used for centuries in everything from musical instruments to household items. Using brass utensils can impart a subtle metallic taste to food, enhancing its flavour profile.
