magnificent vintage “Ram Panchayatan” devotional lithograph, printed by the historic Ravi Vaibhav F.A.L. Press, Ghatkopar, Bombay.

The richly detailed composition depicts Lord Shri Rama seated majestically with Goddess Sita, surrounded by his brothers Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna, while the devoted Lord Hanuman kneels reverentially beside them. Together, the figures form the celebrated Ram Panchayatan, one of the most iconic devotional compositions associated with the Ramayana.

The elaborate crowns, jewellery, peacock-feather halos, ceremonial umbrella, richly ornamented throne and patterned floor create an extraordinary royal setting. The strong turquoise, red, yellow and green palette gives the work the distinctive visual character of early Indian colour lithographic printing.

The original lower printed margin remains visible and carries important period details including “Ram Panchayatan,” Registered No. 0064, A. K. Joshi & Company, Kalbadevi Road, Bombay and Ravi Vaibhav F.A.L. Press, Ghatkopar.

Ravi Vaibhav F.A.L. Press was part of Bombay’s important early colour-lithography tradition. Historic references document Ravi Vaibhav lithographic printing at Ghatkopar during the early decades of the 20th century.

Did You Know

Brass is actually an alloy, not a pure metal. It’s a combination of copper and zinc, and the proportions of these metals determine the colour and properties of the brass. Known for its durability and resistance to corrosion, brass has been used for centuries in everything from musical instruments to household items. Using brass utensils can impart a subtle metallic taste to food, enhancing its flavour profile.
