A rare and highly decorative vintage Indian devotional print titled “SHANMUKA SUBBARAMANY”, depicting the magnificent multi-faced form of Lord Shanmukha / Subrahmanya, also known as Kartikeya or Murugan.

The deity is represented with multiple faces and arms, surrounded by an impressive fan of peacock feathers, with the sacred peacock prominently positioned in the foreground. Two beautifully dressed female figures flank the deity, traditionally associated with the iconography of Valli and Devasena. The composition also incorporates serpentine imagery, divine weapons, floral details and a richly coloured landscape.

The print retains several important period inscriptions, greatly enhancing its historical and collectible interest. Visible details include S.S. Brij Basi & Sons, Bunder Road, Karachi, along with the Delhi agent Hem Chander Bhargava, Chandni Chowk, Delhi. It also states that the work was printed by Brij Basi Art Printing Works, Karachi.

The artwork itself carries an artist inscription referring to Khubiram of Nathdwara (Mewar), India, connecting the composition with the celebrated devotional-art tradition of Nathdwara.

Presented in an old dark wooden frame, the print retains its beautiful period colours and natural age-related character, making it an exceptional display piece for collectors of Indian devotional art, Nathdwara imagery, pre-Partition printing and vintage religious ephemera.
