A striking vintage devotional colour print depicting Bhagwan Vishwanath – Lord Shiva seated in deep meditation beneath a sacred tree, surrounded by a beautifully composed riverside landscape and traditional temple architecture.

Issued under the celebrated Gita Press Chitravali (गीताप्रेस-चित्रावली) series, the artwork presents Lord Shiva seated cross-legged upon a tiger skin, adorned with rudraksha malas, sacred markings, serpent and traditional Shaivite iconography. His trishul stands beside him, while the flowing Ganga emerging from his matted locks adds a powerful spiritual dimension to the composition.

The distant temple complex, river, lush landscape and celestial figures in the sky give this work a rich narrative quality characteristic of early Indian devotional calendar and religious art.

An especially interesting feature is the visible inscription within the artwork reading:

“Art. Khuliram, Nathdwara (M.), India”

The Hindi title “भगवान विश्वनाथ” – Bhagwan Vishwanath is printed prominently beneath the image, while the Gita Press Chitravali mark appears at the upper margin.

Brass is actually an alloy, not a pure metal. It’s a combination of copper and zinc, and the proportions of these metals determine the colour and properties of the brass. Known for its durability and resistance to corrosion, brass has been used for centuries in everything from musical instruments to household items. Using brass utensils can impart a subtle metallic taste to food, enhancing its flavour profile.
