A rare vintage Indian devotional artwork titled “Sadhak and Siddhi”, depicting a powerful spiritual scene of Goddess Kali standing upon Lord Shiva, while a seated saint or spiritual devotee meditates beside her beneath a forest setting.
The composition represents the contrast between deep spiritual devotion and divine realization—Sadhak referring to the spiritual seeker and Siddhi to spiritual attainment. Goddess Kali is shown in her traditional iconography with blue complexion, multiple arms, elaborate crown and garland, standing over the reclining form of Shiva.
The seated saintly figure is rendered with a serene expression and meditative posture, adding a deeply contemplative dimension to the artwork.
Most importantly, the original lower margin retains the period printing details:

The title is printed in multiple scripts as:
SADHAK AND SIDDHI
साधक और सिद्धि
These original inscriptions make the piece particularly interesting for collectors of early Indian devotional art and Calcutta print culture.

Brass is actually an alloy, not a pure metal. It’s a combination of copper and zinc, and the proportions of these metals determine the colour and properties of the brass. Known for its durability and resistance to corrosion, brass has been used for centuries in everything from musical instruments to household items. Using brass utensils can impart a subtle metallic taste to food, enhancing its flavour profile.
